Have you ever wondered how breastfeeding affects our planet? Well, surprisingly there are benefits to the mother, the baby, and the environment.
Protects the mother from breast and ovarian cancer
Protects the babies from certain illness (allergies, diarrhea, and respiratory illness)
Creates a stronger immune system for both children and mothers
Reduces the mortality of children and mothers
Lessens the carbon footprints and plastic pollution that formula feeding contributes
Breastfeeding is a sustainable and intimate way to nourish an infant and has a greater impact on the environment in comparison to breast milk substitutes.
World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) said, “Breastmilk is produced and delivered without pollution, packaging or waste. It is a climate-smart decision.” They have linked the Social Development Goals (SDGs) to breastfeeding aiming to end poverty, battle inequality, and combat climate change.
However, less of the population is aware of the challenges of Motherhood and there is still a lack of support being given to them.
Growing up, women are always told what to do, how to look, how to act by society.
We need empowerment, guidance and to raise awareness to create a better future!
